Czech course - Beginner 1 (level A1, part 1)

Our Beginner 1 Czech course is for students with no (or minimal) prior knowledge of the Czech language.

Course description

  • lessons focus on the practical use of Czech in ordinary, daily situations
  • focus on practicing correct pronunciation of Czech sounds, speaking, writing, reading, and listening

This course will teach you

  • to introduce yourself and speak about abilities and interests
  • to describe yourself and your family
  • to understand time expressions (time, dates, days, months, seasons of the year, years, ages)
  • to count from 0 to 1 000 000
  • to express your needs to people around you in simple sentences and phrases, and to understand people in common situations
  • to understand directories and informational signs
  • to order food and drinks in restaurants, and communicate in shops
  • to communicate in the past tense

In terms of grammar you'll learn to use

  • grammatical gender
  • pronouns (personal, demonstrative, and possessive)
  • present tense and its negative forms
  • past tense and its negative forms
  • singular accusative
  • singular locative

You will also get to know the declination system in Czech, and the role of cases in everyday conversation.

Czech course - Beginner 2 (level A1, part 2)

Our Beginner 2 Czech course is for students who passed the Beginner 1 course, or those who can use grammatical gender, conjugation in the present and past tenses, the accusative singular; very limited vocabulary, e.g. able to introduce themselves, order food and drinks in restaurants etc.; able to communicate using very simple sentences in the present and past tenses.

  • lessons focus on the practical use of Czech in common daily situations
  • focus on practicing correct pronunciation of Czech sounds, speaking, writing, reading, and listening

This course will teach you

  • to describe where and how you live, the appearance of your house, activities at home
  • to speak about your holiday
  • how to make a reservation (e.g. hotel, trip) and talk about travelling
  • to know the parts of the human body
  • to communicate at the doctor’s (e.g. to describe your health problems in simple sentences)
  • to ask for and give directions
  • to work with recipes
  • to use the future tense

Our Pre-intermediate Czech course is for students who passed the Beginner 2 course, or those with a basic knowledge of Czech (e.g. simple sentences in the present, past and future tenses for everyday situations, active knowledge of perfect and imperfect verbs).

Our Intermediate 1 Czech course is for students who passed the Pre-Intermediate course, or those with a good knowledge of Czech; students can use declination, tenses, simple conditionals, imperatives, and understand the use of perfect and imperfect verbs.
